In the gospel of John, chapter 14, the words of Jesus the Messiah are recorded as a conversation with the disciples. There are three things that Christ says relating to the second coming. In verses 16-17 the “spirit of Truth” or ‘comforter’ would come to dwell within his followers and “abide with you forever”. Then in verse 18 he says “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” Finally in verse 23 we see’ “If any man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

This indicates that all three entities of the divine would take up residence in the believers hearts. The context also places this event in the near future, that is, in ‘their’ near future. There are other places in the New Testament writings that indicate the same thing. “for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. the night is far spent, the day is at hand:” (Romans 13:11-12), “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;” (Revelation 1:1), “the hour is coming and now is when the dead…shall come forth; they that have done good unto the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation.” (John 5:25-29), “the end of all things is at hand” (I Peter 4:7) and “we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…” (I Thessalonians 4:17)
